The Fencing Section, which was founded in 1907, today has 329 members (as at 01/01/2008). It provides not only concentrated support for competitive sportsmen and sportswomen but also facilities for active popular involvement. The Olympic participants, Arnd Schmitt, Irmela Broniecki, Christiane Weber, Achim Bellmann and Andrea Rentmeister represent the strength of the Leverkusen fencers as well as successful up-and-coming young sporting talents.
One highlight of fencing in Leverkusen is the annual International Bayer-Fencing-Cup (more about Bayer-Cup on our pages in German). Fencing is offered here at the highest level. In the Multi-Sports-Section the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen offers pentathlon, "Fechter-Fünfkampf" (a popular version of pentathlon) and triathlon.
