Disabled Sports
Bayer - a partner of disabled sports in Germany
Traditionally, Bayer AG has always been closely connected to disabled sports. Presently, the sponsorship of disabled sports is based on three pillars:
• Sponsoring of the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen disabled sports department
• Sponsoring of the German Association of Disabled Sports
• Herbert-Grünewald-Foundation for the promotion of sports possibilities for the disabled
Bayer has been sponsoring the German Association of Disabled Sports (DBS) since 2000. The commitment is designed to help increase the acceptance of disabled sports in Germany. The company also hopes that numerous young disabled people draw courage from the idols in the world of sport at its highest level, draw confidence and live their life accordingly.
The TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen Disabled Sports Department can offer its members a large variety of competitive, rehabilitation and recreational sports. So far athletes from the Bayer-backed disabled athletes have managed to win 55 medals at the Paralympics.
The Herbert Grünewald Foundation for encouraging sport among the disabled has been a cornerstone for handicapped sports since being founded in 1981 and is further evidence of Bayer's commitment to sports for the disabled.
